Zafar Imam, a proud son of Mirzaganj Upazila in Patuakhali District, former Vice-President (VP) of BM University College, and a dedicated, tested activist of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), recently met with BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and greeted him with floral wishes. During the meeting, the two leaders held a cordial discussion regarding the current political situation of the party and grassroots organizational activities.
Long-standing Political Sacrifice and Ideology
In the political arena, Zafar Imam is recognized as a selfless, loyal, and principled activist. From the anti-autocracy movement to every difficult phase of the party, he has played a frontline role. Despite being in service for a long time, he never deviated from his party ideals. His active presence has been noticeable in every BNP rally, gathering, and program. He has never backed down from executing party directives and has consistently played a leading role in keeping grassroots activists energized.
The greatest proof of his pure love and loyalty to the party is that he never ran after central leaders or power driven by any desire for positions or titles. Without any lobbying or expectation of personal gain, he has silently and quietly fulfilled his responsibilities. To him, politics means serving the people and implementing the party's ideology, not holding posts.
Tireless Journey with Grassroots People
Zafar Imam is not only connected with central politics, but he is also deeply rooted in his hometown. He regularly visits his native area in Mirzaganj, Patuakhali, and mingles with the common people. He stands beside everyone—from working-class individuals to people of all strata—as a reliable friend in their times of joy and sorrow. Whenever anyone in the area faces danger or a social crisis, he is the first to extend a helping hand. To the local common people, he is a symbol of trust.
Unwavering Loyalty to the Country and Party
He has also set a unique example of working actively for party candidates in recent local and national elections in Patuakhali. Notably, during the recent national parliamentary election in Patuakhali, setting aside personal ambitions or the allure of publicity, he worked tirelessly from the very beginning to the last day of the campaign to ensure the victory of his cousin, heavyweight BNP leader and former Minister Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury. By working unitedly for the party candidate, he established a brilliant example of political fairness and unwavering party loyalty across Mirzaganj and the entire district.
Although professional and personal engagements often require him to divide his time between Dhaka and his locality, his emotional connection with the people of the area has not faded in the slightest. He continues to work as a tested companion in the joys and sorrows of the local people.
Future Expectations
The expectation of activists and common people is that Zafar Imam will expand the scope of his political activities manifold in the days ahead. Just as he stood by the people and on the streets during the party's difficult days, he will continue to lead in securing the rights of the neglected people of the area on a larger scale in the future. This courtesy meeting and exchange of greetings with BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has created new enthusiasm and encouragement among the grassroots party activists. Local activists believe that his relentless hard work for the welfare of the party and the people will continue in the future as well.
