A man was killed and a woman suffered burn injuries after unidentified arsonists set fire to an Alam Asia bus in Fulbaria, Mymensingh, early Tuesday.The incident took place around 3:00 am in front of a petrol pump at Bhalukjan Market in Fulbaria Municipality.Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fulbaria Police Station, Md Rokonuzzaman, confirmed the incident to GT. He said the passenger bus, which had departed from Dhaka, arrived in Fulbaria and stopped in front of a petrol pump for refueling around 2:45 am. Most passengers got off the bus, but due to the late hour, a woman and her son remained inside, along with the bus driver or helper, Julhas. At this time, three unidentified arsonists set the bus on fire and immediately fled the scene.

While the child managed to escape, his mother suffered severe burn injuries. Julhas was trapped inside and died on the spot.

The OC added that the woman and her son are residents of Fulbaria. The injured woman was taken to a private hospital in Dhaka for treatment. Julhas’ body is at the police station, and efforts are underway to identify him. Police are also working to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
