BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that a vested syndicate is responsible for the ongoing unrest in the country’s hill regions as well as in the ready-made garment (RMG) sector. Speaking at a press briefing at the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, on Monday (September 29), Rizvi said, “Suddenly, signs of unrest are visible in the hills. These incidents are worrying people and creating anxiety. At the same time, similar unrest is surfacing in the garment sector. These are not isolated events—some group is clearly involved in every incident.”He cautioned that if there is any anti-national conspiracy or “master plan” behind such developments, everyone must unite to foil it. “The conspirators must be defeated, and their plots dismantled,” he stressed.
Referring to a recent remark by a Jamaat leader about the possibility of an attack from a neighboring country, Rizvi expressed deep concern. “Why are such alarming statements being made? We do have unresolved issues—water, trade, and others—that can and should be solved through dialogue and diplomacy. But why spread the fear of war? This seems planned and poses a danger to our sovereignty,” he said.
Rizvi warned that Bangladeshis had already witnessed the fall of one form of fascism, and now signs of another are emerging. “The remarks from Jamaat about war with India raise questions about whether a larger game plan is underway. Jamaat appears to be following a dangerous blueprint that undermines the sovereignty of the state,” he added.
On the occasion of Durga Puja, the BNP leader said the festival was being celebrated across the country with joy and enthusiasm. “While there are always attempts to disrupt such celebrations, we want the Puja to conclude peacefully without any security threats. That is why we remain alert,” he noted.
According to Rizvi, BNP activists are actively ensuring safety at nearly 35,000 Puja mandaps across the country. He said BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has repeatedly instructed party members to maintain communal harmony and ensure that Puja celebrations remain smooth and secure.
Rizvi also claimed that both domestic and international conspirators were working to damage Bangladesh’s image by creating dissatisfaction among minority communities and disturbing the nation’s tradition of communal harmony. He urged all pro-democracy political parties to remain vigilant. “Take responsibility for the safety of Hindu festivals and ensure that no one can provoke communal unrest,” he appealed.
BNP Organizing Secretary Selim Bhuiyan and Executive Committee member Abdus Sattar Patwari, among others, were present at the event.
