Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has described the proposed budget for FY2026-27 as an inclusive one, saying the government has tried to bring people from all sections of society into its budget planning.Speaking at a post-budget press conference on Friday, the finance minister said the government had put in the required effort to prepare the budget, but the people would ultimately judge how successful it had been.“This is an inclusive budget,” he said, adding that the government had tried to ensure that no group was left outside the budget framework.

Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said the context of this year’s budget was different because it had been prepared under a new government following a changed political situation.

He said the present government had taken office through an election after a long period of political change, and public expectations from it were high.

Despite having limited time, the government had tried its best, he said.

“We have tried to bring every citizen into our budget thinking. I do not think anyone has been left outside the scope of this budget,” he said.

The finance minister said the government had taken steps to bring the economy under a democratic framework. Allocations had also been kept for people who had remained outside the formal economic system, he added.

Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said the budget set out a long-term roadmap for advancing the economy, and that the approach behind the plan was somewhat different from previous exercises.

He said one of the biggest responsibilities of a democratic government was to ensure accountability, and that the government was moving forward on that principle.
