Nurul Islam Moni is a well-known figure in Bangladeshi politics. Throughout his long political career, he has earned a reputation as a prudent, experienced, and grassroots-oriented leader. Political observers often regard him as a strong advocate of parliamentary democracy and a dedicated contributor to the strengthening of political institutions. His unwavering loyalty to his party, political ideals, and leadership has secured him a significant place in the country's political landscape.

Despite facing numerous challenges, including political repression, lawsuits, arrests, and harassment, Nurul Islam Moni has never deviated from his political principles. He has consistently believed that political struggle is an essential means of safeguarding the rights of the people. As a result, he remained active in party affairs during difficult times and stood firmly beside party leaders and activists.

His deep respect, trust, and loyalty toward the party leadership have always been evident. In particular, his admiration and confidence in Begum Khaleda Zia have been widely recognized within political circles. Following the directives of the party leadership, he has actively participated in various political movements and organizational activities, working tirelessly to strengthen and expand the party.

Beyond his political identity, Nurul Islam Moni is also widely respected for his humanitarian qualities. He has gained immense popularity in his constituency due to his accessibility and willingness to help people in times of need. Nurul Islam Moni is a Bangladeshi politician and a senior leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He has served as a Vice Chairman of the party and has also held important parliamentary responsibilities, including serving as the Chief Whip of the National Parliament.

Born in 1952 in Monipur village under Patharghata Upazila of Barguna District, Nurul Islam Moni demonstrated academic excellence from an early age. He completed his Higher Secondary education under the Jessore Education Board in 1972. He later enrolled at the University of Dhaka, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in 1975. In 1976, he earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree from the same university, graduating with First Class distinction. His strong academic background played a significant role in shaping his future political career.

His political rise began in the post-independence era of Bangladesh. In the Fourth National Parliamentary Election held in 1988, he contested as an independent candidate and was elected as a Member of Parliament. This victory was particularly significant because it demonstrated his strong personal popularity and public support. Following the fall of the Ershad government in 1990, the parliament was dissolved.

In the Fifth National Parliamentary Election of 1991, Nurul Islam Moni once again contested as an independent candidate and secured a landslide victory. His success further strengthened his political standing. After the BNP formed the government, he joined the party and quickly gained the confidence of its leadership through his active involvement in organizational activities. He later became President of the Barguna District BNP.

Although he did not participate in the Seventh National Parliamentary Election held on 15 February 1996, he remained actively engaged in politics. Through organizational work and close engagement with the people, he continued to strengthen his political position and influence.

In the Eighth National Parliamentary Election in 2001, he contested as a BNP candidate and was elected as a Member of Parliament. During his tenure, he played an important role in promoting local development, improving infrastructure, expanding educational opportunities, and implementing various welfare initiatives. Under his leadership, numerous development projects were undertaken in his constituency.

Over the years, Nurul Islam Moni assumed a more prominent role in national politics. In the Eleventh National Parliamentary Election in 2018, he received the BNP nomination and remained actively involved in political activities. His extensive political experience, organizational skills, and close connection with the people established him as an influential figure in Bangladeshi politics.

In the parliamentary election held on 12 February 2026, he was once again elected as a Member of Parliament. Subsequently, he assumed the responsibilities of Chief Whip in the National Parliament. In this capacity, he has played a significant role in managing parliamentary affairs, coordinating party activities within the legislature, and contributing to the lawmaking process.
