BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that party chairperson Khaleda Zia never needed a “safe exit.” “If a leader’s heart is guided by honesty, no matter how many accusations are brought against them, they do not need a safe exit. So why is there a debate over safe exit for the advisers of the interim government?” he asked. Rizvi made the remarks on Thursday (October 9) at an event in Uttar Durakuti village under Bahagili Union in Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari district. Following the directive of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Rizvi handed over two auto vans and Tk 50,000 in cash to an elderly couple—Mostakin and Shokina Begum—of the village.
Referring to National Citizens’ Platform (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, Rizvi said, “According to him, if someone has committed crimes—engaged in corruption, money laundering, or murder—they might need a safe exit. You were an adviser to this government, so tell us—who among them committed such crimes? When they think of their own safe exit, the nation will also think about it.”
Rizvi added that despite widespread propaganda and false allegations against the BNP, Tarique Rahman has never blamed any particular political party. He termed this a positive sign of political maturity.
Expressing optimism about the current administration, Rizvi said, “All democratic parties have expressed support for the government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He is a man of integrity and international repute. We hope his government will perform well. We want to place our trust in this government so that it truly acts as a neutral administration.”
BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and singer Baby Nazneen, BNP Rangpur Divisional Assistant Organizing Secretary Abdul Khalek, Central Executive Committee Member Bilkis Islam, Saidpur District BNP President Principal Abdul Gafur Sarkar, General Secretary Shaheen Qatar Shaheen, and Kishoreganj Upazila BNP President Abdullah Al-Mamun were also present along with other local leaders and activists.
