BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused the Consensus Commission of deceiving the people and political parties.He made the remarks while delivering the keynote speech at a book launch event held on Wednesday, October 29, at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club. The event, organized by Adarsha Prokashoni, marked the release of a book authored by journalist and fiction writer Ehsan Mahmud.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “We were astonished to see yesterday when the Consensus Commission released its report—there were no notes of dissent included. They were completely ignored. This cannot be called a consensus. Then why was this Consensus Commission even formed? I will say this: the Consensus Commission has deceived the people and also the political parties.”

Addressing the Chief Adviser, he said, “You are accountable to the people. You are expected to implement necessary reforms and deliver an election. The parliament formed through that election will address the country’s crises. If there is any deviation, the responsibility will rest on you.”

The event was also attended by Jonaid Saki, Chief Coordinator of the Ganasanghati Andolan, Nurul Haque Nur, President of the Ganadhikar Parishad, Sohrab Hasan, Editor of Charcha.com, and other political leaders.
