National Election Process Must Not Be Obstructed: Golam Parwar

Mia Golam Parwar, Secretary-General of Jamaat-e-Islami, has emphasized that the ongoing journey toward the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election must not face any obstacles. He made the remarks on Sunday (October 26) while speaking as the chief guest at a program organized at the Diploma Engineers Institute in Dhaka to mark the fourth anniversary of the Ganadhikar Parishad (People’s Rights Council).

Strengthening National Unity Against Threats

Parwar highlighted the importance of national unity to protect the electoral process. “To safeguard this journey, we must strengthen national unity and remain united against active internal and external malicious forces,” he said.

He warned that foreign powers and certain domestic agencies may try to interfere in the election process. “However, if everyone remains united, neither foreign powers nor internal forces will be able to obstruct the election process or the nation-building journey,” he added.

Historical Context of Ganadhikar Parishad

The Jamaat leader also outlined the history and struggle of the Ganadhikar Parishad, noting that the organization emerged from a student-led movement to uphold fundamental rights.

He specifically mentioned Nurul Haq Nur, the current president of Ganadhikar Parishad, highlighting the hardships he faced since his student days. “After being elected as Vice President of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), Nur faced severe repression, which the nation did not take lightly. The public also witnessed police oppression during the July mass uprising, which generated widespread sympathy for Nurul Haq Nur,” Parwar said.
