Following the devastating fire that swept through Dhaka’s Karail slum on 25 November, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), under the directives of its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, organized a two-day health camp to support the affected families. The camp ran from 10 a.m. to evening on Thursday, offering primary healthcare and distributing medicines to nearly 1,200 patients suffering from fever, cold, cough, respiratory problems, and fire-related injuries. The first part of the health camp was held at Ershad Field in Karail, and the second part took place in K-Block’s Kabristan Goli. The program was supervised by Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, BNP’s Health Affairs Secretary and Associate Professor of Urology at Bangladesh Medical University.
Throughout the day, around one hundred doctors from various medical specialties—including medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, urology, cardiology, burn and plastic surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, and ENT—volunteered to provide treatment and distribute free medicines.
