Emotion-Filled Message from Fakhrul About Ailing Khaleda Zia

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has shared an emotional message on social media about the party’s ailing chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia, who is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. On Tuesday (25 November), Fakhrul posted a photo card featuring Khaleda Zia on his verified Facebook page. The card read: “Get well soon, Deshnetri. Bangladesh awaits you.” BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia remains admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital, where her physical condition remains unchanged. She is still under close observation in a cabin, receiving continuous medical care. BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the information on Tuesday morning, citing doctors overseeing her treatment. “There is no new update regarding Madam’s health yet. Her treatment is continuing as before,” he said.

Earlier on Monday (24 November) night, a medical source reported that an increased infection in Khaleda Zia’s heart and lungs had intensified her breathing difficulties. In response, doctors decided to keep her under heightened observation.

On behalf of the party, BNP has appealed to the nation to pray for Khaleda Zia’s speedy recovery. On Monday night, Professor Shahabuddin Talukder, a member of the medical board, stated that Begum Khaleda Zia was in slightly better condition than before and remained in her cabin.

According to hospital sources, an infection was detected in her chest. Her pre-existing heart disease, combined with the infection spreading to her lungs, has worsened her breathing issues. Upon admission, doctors conducted urgent tests and began administering antibiotics along with other necessary treatments.

Meanwhile, party sources report that her elder son Tarique Rahman and daughter-in-law Dr. Zubaida Rahman are monitoring her condition regularly from London. In Dhaka, the wife of her late son Arafat Rahman Koko—Syeda Shamila Rahman—is staying by her side. Following the advice of the medical board, the former prime minister was admitted to Evercare Hospital on Sunday night (23 November).
