While studying at the University of Dhaka, he played a significant role in the central leadership of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the BNP. He served as the Central President of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal in 1985 and 1986. Throughout his political career, he has held several important positions within the BNP. He served as the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal and also held the responsibilities of BNP's Secretary for Agricultural Affairs and Adviser to the Party Chairperson. Later that same year, he secured victory again in the Seventh National Parliamentary Election held in June and continued his responsibilities as a Member of Parliament.
