BNP Health Camp for Fire-Affected Residents of Korail Slum

As part of nationwide prayers seeking the recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, a doa and milad mahfil was held after Juma prayers at the mosque adjacent to Korail slum. During the event, BNP’s Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam requested prayers from the gathered worshippers for the recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia and for the good health of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. At the same time, following the directives of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the second day of a health camp—organized to assist those affected by the November 25 fire in Korail slum—was held on Friday in the alley beside the Korail Mosque.

As on the first day, over a hundred specialist doctors from various departments of several hospitals provided free medical services and distributed medicines.

Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, the overall supervisor of the health camp and BNP’s Health Affairs Secretary, stated that doctors from Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Burn and Plastic Surgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Chest Diseases, and Cardiology departments served patients throughout the day. Free medicines were also provided to the fire-affected residents.

Like Thursday, around 1,600 patients—including those with colds, coughs, fevers, and injuries from the fire—received free treatment and medicines on the second day of the camp.

Among the attending physicians were BNP Assistant Health Affairs Secretary Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam; cardiologist Abu Saeed Abdullah; surgery specialists Dr. Sayem Al Mansur Faezi and Dr. Ahmed Sami Al Hasan; plastic surgeon Dr. Sharif; consultant Dr. Zakia Sultana Mitali; ophthalmologist Dr. Nazim; Dr. Noman Azizi Khan; Dr. Sayan; Dr. Shimanto; Dr. Badsha; Dr. Talha; Dr. Piyas Hasan; Dr. Raihan; Dr. Atik Turjo; Dr. Sakib; Dr. Atika; Dr. Shihab; Dr. Sifat; Dr. Arefin; and many others. Students from various medical colleges—including Shihab, Ruhul Amin, Maruf, and Tahsin—also volunteered during the two-day camp.

Additionally, physiotherapists Tanvir and Mohsin, MTAB members Niaz and Rafsan, various healthcare-related organizations, and local BNP leaders and activists participated in managing the camp.
