Serious allegations have been raised against former Awami Swechchhasebak League Finance Secretary K.M. Masudur Rahman and his associates for illegally occupying government land, temple premises, and playgrounds to construct the “Seba Green Model Filling and Auto Gas Station.” A formal complaint has been filed with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking an investigation into his alleged corruption and criminal activities.According to a petition signed by freedom fighter Commander Rabiul Alam on behalf of freedom fighters and their families, Masudur Rahman is accused of land grabbing, drug and gold smuggling, human trafficking, and involvement in casino-related crimes.
The complaint states that Masud, a resident of Byaspur village under Maheshpur Union in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district, began his criminal career after opening a store named “Seba Departmental Store” in Uttara, Dhaka. The store allegedly served as a front for the trade of phensedyl, beer, liquor, cannabis, and heroin.
Masud is also accused of using the recruiting license of one Rafiq Ullah of Lakshmipur—Flower Trade International—to commit fraud under the guise of manpower export. Following this incident, Rafiq Ullah reportedly suffered a fatal stroke due to mental distress, after which Masud allegedly intimidated the deceased’s family into leaving Dhaka. The complaint further alleges that Masud subsequently became involved in women and child trafficking as well as gold smuggling.
After the Awami League came to power, Masud reportedly used his political connections within the Swechchhasebak League to secure influence and the post of Finance Secretary. It is alleged that he leveraged relationships with Selina Khatun, former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, and leaders Molya Kawser and Pankaj Debnath to consolidate his position in the organization.
Later, Masud partnered with Kawser Molya to establish “Seba Green Line Paribahan,” a transport company that, according to allegations, has been used to traffic yaba tablets, cannabis, and other illegal substances—turning the southern region of Bangladesh into a “drug haven.”
The complaint also names former Health and Science & Technology Secretary Sirajul Haque Khan as Masud’s business partner. It alleges that during his tenure as a secretary, Khan embezzled around 400 crore taka from two foreign aid funds and laundered the money through Masud’s enterprises. The former secretary is now said to be involved with Masud in running the “Seba Filling Station” and other businesses.
Masud and his associates are further accused of grabbing government land, a children’s playground, and a temple site in Muksudpur, Gopalganj, where they built the “Seba Filling Station” and a “Highway Restaurant.” Similarly, another filling and CNG station was allegedly constructed illegally on government land near the Ashulia embankment in Dhaka.
In addition, a massive industrial complex named “Masud Steel Design BD Ltd.” is reportedly being developed on about 300 acres of land west of Hortapara Bus Stand in Gazipur. Allegations also suggest that BNP central leader Selimuzzaman Selim Molla has been sheltering Masud in exchange for a 10 crore taka bribe and company shares.
The complaint raises a critical question — despite repeated media reports and public allegations, why has no legal action been taken against Masud and his associates?
Has the Anti-Corruption Commission become hostage to the influence of powerful corrupt individuals? That is now the question in the minds of many concerned citizens.
